my full course menu
2026年3月23日
I recently reread Toriko which was a manga I very much enjoyed when I was growing up. In the manga there is a concept of a “Full Course Menu” which is an individual’s ultimate meal. It contains the following courses: Hors d’Oeuvre, Soup, Fish Dish, Meat Dish, Main Course, Salad, Dessert, Drink.
The dishes will be the best tasting food I’ve ever had. Part of the consideration being the difference between expectation and reality.
- Hors d’Oeuvre
- 红油抄手 (Hot & Spicy Wonton) from 66 Deluxe Green Bo in New York, NY
- Soup
- 酸汤肥牛 (Chef Special Sour & Spicy Beef Tenderloin) from Hunan Cuisine (湘乡香) in Chicago, IL
- Fish Dish
- Fried Calamari from The Rouga in Thessaloniki, Greece
- Meat Dish
- 高小爬 肉夹馍 (Gao Xiao Pa Rou Jia Mo) in Flushing, NY
- Main Course
- I don’t really have one in mind right now
- Salad
- Wild Mushrooms from Kindling in Chicago, IL
- If I consider vegetable dishes under “salads” this was a surprisingly good item I had recently
- Dessert
- Egg Tart and Lychee Ice Cream from The Original Chinatown Ice Cream Factory in New York, NY
- Drink
- I haven’t really had too many special drinks
